Program Summary
Bioinformatics is an emerging interdsciplinary area spanning many different areas including biology, biochemistry, biophysics, computer science, statistics, and mathematics. There is an increasing demand for researchers and workforce in bioinformatics. The campus-wide MS Program in Bioinformatics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) offers outstanding training opportunities for students who would like to pursue a career in this exciting and growing field. We offer five options to accommodate training of students with different backgrounds, including
Computer Science, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Animal Sciences, Crop Science, and Library and Information Science. The five options of the program share a few core courses, but otherwise provide maximum flexiblity for students to customize
the training according to their background and career goals.
